Every year we award a Paul Harris Award to a member of our community, this year we chose Bernie Gould, executive director of St Vincent de Paul.
For years she has worked tirelessly to ensure Prince George homeless people have at least one healthy meal a day. She was motivated by her own upbringing to do this kind of work. While her family always provided for her, she recognized the struggle it sometimes was and decided to help those who needed it most.
The current pandemic has made things challenging as social distancing is not easy when you are trying to feed the number of people who use the services St Vincent de Paul provides. Bernie and her team have risen to the challenge and continue to get meals to those in need. This and everything else she has done over the years make her a great recipient for this award.
