The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (H.R. 1)
Jun 12, 2018
MEETING LOCATION: The Delaney at Georgetown Village (noon) The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (H.R. 1) has been approved by Congress and signed by President Trump. The most sweeping change to the U.S. tax code in decades cleared the Senate, 51 to 48, in the early morning hours of December 20, followed by House approval, 224 to 201, later the same day. President Trump signed the bill into law at the White House on December 22, 2017.
H.R. 1, as approved by Congress, impacts virtually every individual and business on a level not seen in over 30 years. This historic bill calls for lowering the individual and corporate tax rates, repealing countless tax credits and deductions, enhancing the child tax credit, boosting business expensing, and more. The bill also impacts the Affordable Care Act (ACA), effectively repealing the individual shared responsibility requirement. Most provisions are effective starting in 2018. |

Jun 15, 2018 12:00 PM - 5:30 PM
We need to set up our tent sometime between noon and 12:30 pm. The golf tournament begins at 1:00 pm. Our Club is sponsoring hole #2 (tee box) as well as one team of soldiers. We have also provided five $50 Target gift cards ($250 total) for door prizes during the evening meal. The #2 tee box at White Wing can be reached by parking your vehicle on Dove Hollow and then walking through the vacant lot adjacent to #1 green (remember, walk though the vacant lot and not someone's yard). Or, if you have one, consider driving your golf cart. Sign-up to represent our Club at the event (left column). Note: Although 3 "Teams" are shown, you can come and go as your schedule permits. The key is member PARTICIPATION for this important bi-annual event. If you can stay for a whole shift, part of a shift or simply make a brief appearance, please do what you can. Club members may also want to consider assisting with other activities. Additional activities associated with the event are on the CA website (link is in the left column). Click on the "Informational Flyer" (left column) for details about other volunteer and sponsorship opportunities. For example, if you are a Vet and would like to play in the tournament, you will need to submit a separate registration form to enter the drawing for the 36 Vets that will be selected to play.

Jul 05, 2018 8:45 AM - 3:30 PM
Our Club will prepare and serve lunch at RYLA Camp on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at McKinney Roughs Nature Park in Bastrop. Our Club will sponsor six campers from Jarrell High School this year. This is a great Rotary Service Project and provides an excellent chance to participate in one of our Club's many activities that support the youth in our community and area. VERY IMPORTANT: All volunteers MUST complete the 2018 Volunteer Form. The form is available online on the District 5870 website (or, just click HERE). It takes less than two minutes to complete. Meal preparation will be again be coordinated by Chef Heidi this year. Volunteers need to arrive at the Camp no later than 9:30 am to work. Remember, the "background check" form must be processed by District 5870 before you can volunteer (which means no last-minute signups). Submit the form NOW if you are considering participation. You can always cancel at the the last minute, if necessary, but you can't participate without the required paperwork. |
