Family Medicine

MEETING LOCATION: Sun City Social Center (Ballroom) at noon Family Medicine is the medical specialty which is concerned with the total health care of the individual and the family. It is the specialty in breadth which integrates the biological, clinical, and behavioral sciences. The scope of family medicine is not limited by age, sex, organ system, or disease entity. Note: The American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians certification includes extensive use of Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT), which integrates the biological, clinical, and behavioral sciences. Board certification for Medical Doctors (MDs) is provided by the American Board of Family Medicine. Board certification for Doctors of Osteopathy (DOs) is provided by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians or the American Board of Family Medicine. |

He is a lifelong conservative Republican, committed husband and father, and a decorated combat veteran. He holds a BS in Business Administration from Texas A&M University and an MS in Strategic Logistics Plans and Management from the Air War University.

"WESTERN" Theme We will celebrate the 20th anniversary of our Rotary Club charter on Tuesday evening, October 24 (actual charter date was October 24, 1997). Cost is only $5 for members who pay $65 for dues/meals per month (because they have already paid for a regular meeting meal for that day), $15 for members who pay dues semi-annually and then pay for meals when they attend a meeting and $15 for guests. No noon meeting on October 24. When you get to the registration screen be sure to register yourself and then your guest(s), if applicable. Ignore the "payment" stuff at the bottom of the page. Money will be collected the night of the event. BYOB (and your opener). Caterering by Pok-e-Jo's Smokehouse. |

Key topics to be discussed will include our upcoming 17th Annual "Breakfast with Santa" project as well as EarlyAct FirstKnight® which is now in its third year in two Jarrell schools. |

21st Annual Hill Country Arts & Crafts Fair sponsored by the Sun City Community Association with operational support provided by the Sun City Rotary Club. Set-up and vendor registration begins Friday afternoon for the actual event on Saturday and Sunday. Setup & Registration Only: Friday, November 3 (11:00am to 9:00pm) Fair: Saturday, November 4 (9:00am to 5:00pm) Fair: Sunday, November 5 (11:00am to 4:00pm)
Club Members: Click on the "Rotarians at Work" button in the left column to register for work assignments. Pay attention to the day and time because there are a lot of different activities. You may also modify and/or delete your registration, if necessary. |

The Jarrell High School INTERACT CLUB will host our regular luncheon meeting at Jarrell High School on Tuesday, November 14. This will be an excellent opportunity for members to meet the students participating in INTERACT. If you don't want to drive yourself, JISD is providing a bus that will depart from Cowan Creek at 11:15am and deliver Rotarians to the High School. The bus will leave the High School at about 1:30pm and arrive back at Cowan Creek at about 2:15 pm. |

Our final Rotary Club meeting of 2017 will be a CELEBRATION of 17 years of "Breakfast with Santa." Club members and guests are invited to attend our annual Christmas luncheon as we make final preparations for Saturday's BREAKFAST as well as recognize members of our community who have sponsored and donated to BWS over the past 17 years. Please register for this event (including your guests) so we can get an accurate count for this meal. Members pay normal meeting fees (all guest fees will be paid by our Club as a small token of our appreciation for their continued support). |

MEETING LOCATION: Cowan Creek Amenity Center (Georgetown/Florence) at noon David Wolf (Rotarian and former member of our Club) was born and raised in Georgetown, TX. Since 1999 David has worked in the real estate field and was involved in the family selling the land to Simon Properties where the Wolf Ranch shopping center is located today. Since 2009 his primary focus has been the development of Gatlin Creek on Williams Drive, a 120 acre mixed use project. Future plans for Gatlin Creek include restaurants, retail shops, a hotel, and medical/office buildings along the Williams Drive frontage, with residential in the back. |

CASA - Court Appointed Special Advocates of Williamson County

MEETING LOCATION: Cowan Creek (Georgetown/Florence) at noon Marissa Austin currently serves at the Executive Director for the Court Appointed Special Advocates of Williamson County, where she oversees the management and fundraising of the organization. CASA’s mission is to provide trained, court-appointed volunteers to advocate in the best interest of abused and neglected children on their journey to a safe, permanent home. Prior to CASA, Marissa served as the Executive Director of the Palace Theatre in Georgetown. Her accomplishments included a multi-million dollar capital campaign and modernizing the operating systems of the organization. Marissa has also served as the Director of External Relations for the Rivers Institute at Hanover College (Indiana), the Director of Alumni Relations at the University of Dubuque (Iowa), and the Director of Administration at her alma mater, Concordia University, St. Paul (Minnesota). She also enjoys teaching Theatre, Communication, and Management courses for Concordia University, St. Paul. The loves of Marissa’s life are her husband Joe, the head football coach at Southwestern University; daughter Reagan who is 2 and a half…going on 20, and dog Apollo who will do anything to go for a run. She is also a Rotarian and a Georgetown Chamber Ambassador. |
