September was a very busy month for me as I only had one week after I arrived to settle in before school started. I started off with a weekend orientation on the Golfe dy Morbihan in a city called Vannes. There are thirty students in my district. We all became very close friends very quickly which has been very nice.

Health:

I have been very lucky to not get sick yet. Very many of my friends have been sick lately. I did pull some muscles in my leg from playing soccer a few weeks ago but it's all good now. Other than this my health has been good.

School Activities:

School has been going very well, I have made very many friends, who speak english which was nice for the first couple weeks of school. Now they encourage me to speak only in French and help me with words I do not know and correct my errors. There is a Canadian assistant teacher at my school, he just arrived last week. His name is Luke and he came from Muncton, New Brunswick. My english teacher likes having Luke and I in her class because we are able to help her explain what she wants to be done to the class. Last week my english class went to a city called Dinard, for am english film festival. Dinard is about one and a half hours from Vitré. The movies were played in english but had french subtitles. Next week in my history class, we will go to Berlin for one week. We will take a bus there which ail take twenty one hours. We will go to museums and learn about both World Wars. We will also go to a concentration camp. I am looking forward to going on this trip because we are going to learn so much more actually being able to go and see these things ourselves, rather than seeing pictures of them in the class room.

Attendance at Rotary:

The week after I arrived in Vitré I went to my first Rotary meeting. I met the club president, Gilles Gagnot. And all of the other Rotary members. There are men and women in the club. The meeting for me was very overwhelming because I didn't understand what was going on, and what people were trying to say to me. They all talk very fast! The next week my Rotary club went to a chocolate factory for part of the meeting. I loved going there! It was very interesting. Mostly everything in the chocolate factory is done by hand. I thought it would all be done by machines. The chocolate factory is called 'Le Derf' we were able to try some chocolate while at the factory and it was delicious. I just recently went to Rotary meeting with the District Governor. We were in a very small dining hall so it was difficult for me to understand when people tried talking to me because the room was very loud. At the end of May at the District Conference, all the exchange students need to perform something to the Governor. When we were in Vannes we started practising for this. We split ourselves up into groups by countries. As I am the only Canadian I decided to go into the group with the Americans. There are five students from the USA. We decided to choreograph a dance to Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus. Our dance is going to be very funny, we are wearing our blazers and sunglasses for it. I am looking forward to presenting it.

Activities Outside of Rotary:

I play on a soccer team in Vitré, It is a women's team and the ladies are all older than me. I like playing with them though, the help me out with french because most of them speak english. We have practise every Wednesday night and games on Saturdays and Sundays. Unfortunately I am unable to play in the games because the soccer club in Vitré needs to contact the soccer club in Prince George and make an agreement in order for me to play. I have not had time to go horseback riding yet but my friend has two horses and said that when I do have time we can go riding together.

Other:

My first month has been very exciting and stressful. I am still trying to figure out the language. I am having a lot of fun, so far it has been amazing!
