Health Report: I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a good beginning to the New Year! My
Christmas was absolutely incredible and my New Years was a blast! I will admit that
both holidays were tough but after all it was Christmas and New Years, two of the
largest holidays. I also onky recently changed families as well, my hist parents had
given me the option of when to change families, after or before. I decided after
Christmas as I have been there for so long it may be easier and plus I could tell they
wanted me to stay because their son was in Idaho on exchange and it would be eaiser
on them as well. Nevertheless Christmas is finally over and my mother can begin her
countdown until I am home!
School Report: School is more or less the same, still have some awesome friends, but, since there are
no activities to join in school and I am now in Bürchen which is too far to continue floor
hockey. I have instead been skiing almost everyday, today not though because it is
snowing and overall just not a good day for skiing.
The Christmas traditions though I recognize as rather different, of course but I like them!
Most of the time around Christmas I actually spent working. My host-grandfather owes a
butchery, MM Metzgerei, where for a Christmas tradition everyone orders a Fondue
Chinoise platter, basically slices of raw meat. This year there was over 200 orders and
so the entire family comes from places like Basel and Bern to help with rolling the meat.
It was actually a pretty fun time and now that I know how to do it, it will be something
worth making at home. New Years was a wild celebration as well. At exactly midnight
when the church bells began to ring the entire valley lit up with fireworks. We had no
need to buy our own. I do recognize though that both holidays are not as big as in North
America, Christmas and New Years are normal days really. Both holidays though were
some of the best times so far!
Rotary Attendance Report: Rotary has been increasingly difficult to get to. The meetings are usually held in Brig
which is now quite a distance. I have certainly been trying to get there though. Not for
long because my last bus in at 8:00pm then the next bus is at 6:00am. Other than the
regukar meeting there are really no other Rotary events.
