The George Weinand Rotary Club of Prince George Mini-Auction is almost in the record books and again this year preliminary results look very good.

The term Mini auction is a misnomer in that although it culminates in a 4 or 5 hour evening, it raises thousands of dollars for the general account of the club and this year $2,500 for the Rotary Foundation through the auction of Ricky's grader won this year by Ricky Harrison.

Last year money raised from this club event plus $6,900 raised from passing the hat at our Christmas luncheon enabled us to give the Salvation Army's Tree of Lights campaign a check for $13,800. Bruce Kirk called this the single largest donation to the tree of lights in the 20 year history of the fundraiser.

George almost single handed does all the work for this gala by persistently asking members and other businesses to donate items as well as strongly encouraging people to attend. At the same time George also does his share of soliciting items for the on-line auction so please join me in thanking him for a job well done.

George thanked many people who did give him a hand at the event; Harold Hartshorne, Brent Morgan, George Stedeford, Lou Jewitt, Bob Hlina, Sheila Nelson, Bob Campbell, Kal Basi, Bob Knectel, Gerry Knectel and of course all those who donated and bid on the items.

Mel McMillan for a sizable donation towards the purchase of the wine for the event and to auction off.

Once again the food catered by Just Goode Food was absolutely marvelous with I think about a 40 course meal and more important GREAT DESSERTS.
