PDG Gene Neal was a tremendously dedicated Rotarian.  A 50+ year member of the Rotary Club of Fairfield, Gene served as Governor of District 587 in 1975-76 (not a typo – we didn’t have the last digit in 1975).  At RI President Carlos Conseco’s request, Gene agreed to serve as one of the founding members of Rotary’s initiative to end Polio.  He and Past RI Director Jack Forrest, a member of the Rotary Club of Mexia, share the distinction of being the only two Rotarians in the history of our District to have earned both the Service Above Self Award, and the Rotary Foundation Distinguished Service Award.
Gene passed away on June 2, 2016.  In memory of his lifetime of service to Rotary, his family has agreed to permit District 5870 to use his remaining Rotary Foundation Recognition Points to help spur contributions to the charity he worked so hard to promote - The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.
So, for a limited time starting on March 1, 2019, District 5870 will do the following:
Using Rotary Foundation Recognition Points generously donated by Gene Neal’s family, we will match contributions of new cash made to the Annual Fund-SHARE during Rotary Year 2018-19 on a 1-to-1 basis in amounts of $250 to $500 for any active Rotarian in District 5870 who is not yet a Paul Harris Fellow +8.

Please note:  These matches are limited to one per donor and will be processed on a first come, first served basis until May 30, 2019 or the match pool is exhausted with ever comes first.  Match requests received prior to March 1, 2019 will not be accepted.

The rules are simple:  If you are a Paul Harris Fellow and have a Recognition Amount less than $8,500 you are eligible to participate.  Simply email me at richkaye@hot.rr.com and let me know how much you are contributing to the Annual Fund-SHARE – the amount must be between $250 and $500 (for your reference, the C.E. "Gene" Neal Jr. Memorial Match information sheet is attached to this email).

Then, either donate directly to the Rotary Foundation by going online at www.rotary.org (please be sure to log into My Rotary before donating) or mailing your contribution (using the attached contribution form) to The Rotary Foundation, 14280 Collections Center Drive, Chicago, Illinois 60693.  As soon as your contribution posts, I will release your match.

Finally, my thanks goes to those of you who participate in supporting the great work that our Foundation does around the world and in our local communities.  You truly have the vision to see, the courage to believe, and the faith to act.

Respectfully,

Rich Kaye
