The Rotary Club of Lions Gate was selected Outstanding Rotary Club 2010-2011 !!!
At the District Conference held May 6-8, RCLions Gate was presented with Outstanding Club of the Year Banner by District Governor Penny Offer. Present to accept the banner on the club's behalf were: President Jim Godey, Shirley Robertson, Anne Marie Ferguson, Sue Godey, Terry Lehouillier and Tan Panyanowat.
The club was also recognized by the North Shore News - photo in June 19th, Sunday edition. Peter Hansen, Nancy Roblee, Peter Roundhill, and Shirley Robertson are pictured here.
The Rotary Club of North Vancouver Lions Gate was selected as the Outstanding Rotary club in District 5040 for 2010-11.
The club is active in all areas of service, highly visibility in their local community, had a significant membership growth during the year and are strong supporters of The Rotary Foundation. The club updated and followed their strategic plan. They implemented a new member mentor program using senior club members and regular fireside meetings.
The club has successfully sought and received frequent media coverage in their local newspaper. Several club members serve beyond the club on district committees.
The club has many youth programs including Youth Exchange, RYLA and North Vancouver Youth Week. They sponsor a 60 member Interact club at Windsor Secondary and are establishing a second Interact club at Balmoral Secondary.
For 15 years the club has staged the Canada Day at Waterfront Park that attracts 20,000 people annually.
Their international service includes a joint project in Indonesia for trades training for deaf and hard of hearing young adults. They have applied for a Foundation Global Grant to support the project.
