Volunteering for Atlanta Community Food Bank

Volunteering for the Atlanta Community Food Bank is a longstanding club tradition. In October, we joined the nonprofit at the World Congress Center to volunteer for a special event, held in conjunction with the Produce Market Assoc. Expo, the nation’s largest produce conference. After the expo, nearly 300 volunteers collected and repackaged more than 340,000 pounds of fresh produce – roughly 5 million meals for families in need. In the spirit of Rotary collaboration, we invited and were joined by friends in: the Chamblee Charter High School Interact Club, the North Atlanta Rotary Interact Club and the Oglethorpe Rotaract Club, including our GRSP student, Camilla Aamaas. We also participated in a project in February after another Georgia World Congress Center expo.
