Advancing Engineering

Thanks to a $3,500 special matching District Grant, The Rotary Club of North Atlanta developed a new project and supported Chamblee Charter High School’s (CCHS) engineering program through VEX robotics and the Electrathon, a competition for battery-powered vehicles.

We purchased hardware and software (which can also be used by future students) to give students practical, hands-on experience in engineering, construction and project design. Additionally, the 25 CCHS students also gained team building and problem-solving skills. After securing the district grant, our club members served as judges and presented awards at the robotics competition. We also enjoyed two club meeting programs, which were presented by nine CCHS robotics and Electrathon students.

Supporting these engineering activities strengthened a long-term partnership between our club and CCHS. Many of these engineering students are also members of the CCHS Interact Club, which is sponsored by our club.
