Membership with Rotary

Prior to 1979, the only Rotary club in Burnaby was the Rotary Club of Burnaby and during those days only one member was allowed in any classification. Brent McLean, a lawyer could not join the Burnaby club because there already was a lawyer in that club. Together with Gerry Holmes, he gathered other professionals to form the Burnaby East club which had weekly meetings in various Burnaby locations including the famous Gai Paree owned by the late Burnaby Local Hero, Severin Morin. Known fondly as Sev, he became a member of the Burnaby club for several years, left to be more active in many local community projects and later joined our Burnaby Metrotown Rotary club as a very active Honorary member by invitation of Rotarian, Gloria Staudt.
This club was chartered on February 1, 1979 and charted member, Brent McLean is now a respected honorary member.
