Stories
July is traditionally the month in which new appointees take up their office and new programmes and projects begin to get under way.

Here are a few items that show we are off to a good start.
The Heidelberg golf club was the venue for change over for the Rotary  Club  of Greensborough on the 30th June.

President Francis Acquah thanked officers and members for their contribution to the past year.

Francis  was inducted for his second term  as President of the club and the Charge was presented by Assistant Gov Chris Lang.

A quick change of cultural attire by President  Francis added a dimension to the program.

A major highlight of the night was the presentation to Joy Ferguson of an Avenues of Service Citation Certificate.

The attendance of 25 former members and partners contributed to the fellowship and fun of the evening. There was a real sense of reunion. There was a sense of nostalgia as foundation member and past president of the Cub,  John Mackey proposed a toast to Rotary International.

The newly appointed Sergeant was on the job in fine form.

Last Sunday Grant, Christine and I turned up at the Salomon Trail to help the Rotaractors cater for the 1500 participants when they finished their run (It was absolutely freezing too,

The event and work was all over by midday and we were All pleased to pack up and head for home.

The Rotaractors all turned up and worked really well and raised approximately $1245 for their efforts.

They are a great bunch of young people. It is a pleasure to work with them.
From their website:

Well done Grant. Great effort when working full time as well.
A great night with over 175 silent auction items to bid on.

The loud auction items kept us very interested with the 2 meat trays bringing $775 and $$745.  Fantastic.

$630 was bid for a 10 kg block of Cadburys chocolate. A Juvenile Murray Short Necked Turtle raised $310, High Tea at Parliament House bought $550, Milwaukee Automotive Power Tool Combo Kit went for $465
A week @ Lakeside High Country Retreat - Just $550, A 6x4 Box Trailer With Cage was $1075

As you can see, a great variety of just some of the amazing loud auction Items donated.

Heads and Tails was organised with a true or false response to a statement.

A selection of finger food and drinks were freely on hand and quite delicious. withe the event being held in the Eltham Community Centre.

The concluding activity was to invite individuals to sponsor a Breakaway person for $100 - This was a "one Off" gift and 30 odd people donated.  This helped the total enormously.

All this organised by Breakaway supporters, some of whom have been doing so for 20+ years.

The total raised for the evening was in the vicinity of $43,000  a record!!

Another very well organised event,

All in all, a great night.
