On Saturday night, 30th July, a group of 13 of us including David , Joy and I went along to Bridges Restaurant in Hurstbridge for the Breakaway Camps Fundraising Auction.
Wow what a night! Two hundred people were there all prepared to come and enjoy the night and donate to a great cause. Paul Coleman who was sponsored by our club to go to RYLA many years ago is the Director of this organization and gave a rundown and slide presentation of what they had been doing for the past year with the kids they take on camps and mentor throughout the year in their various programs.
The main auction of large items such as a barbeque, meat tray, guinea pigs, chickens, paintings, weekends away plus many more exciting lots created much frantic bidding in the room. There was also a silent auction of many hundreds of items plus gift vouchers - something for everyone from $2 to $100. The chance to win an Ipad by having the key to unlock the padlock was once again well supported and maybe Joy and I will have better luck next time!
A great chance to socialise with people from all walks of life young and old.
Congratulations must go to all the organisers who like us, are all volunteers. And yes you are waiting to find out - how much did they raise on the night ?
A grand total of $50,125.
An amazing effort by everyone involved! We'd love to see many more of you there next year for a great night! oooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo
