Stories
Red Badge reboot
Dave Arndt was invited by his first Cousin John Lee and Tom Venable, both Noon Rotarians, to join our Club in 1988, when he was 30(ish). He got involved and was our President in 2004. As a farmer, he has a strong interest in water and found Haiti Outreach as a way to bring life sustaining water to Haitians. This service changed his life, along with changing the lives of countless people living in Haiti. He told the story of a Everrose, a woman whose home was built during a trip of Rotarians. Some years later on a return trip, he found her again and asked if she remembered him. A picture of Dave's family that he had given her on the original trip was proudly displayed in her home. Bringing water to others is what he considers his greatest accomplishment. Rotary changes lives!

Todays Meeting
- Happy birthday to Mike Nimmo on 9.14, Anna on 9.15, and Wyatt on 9.17!
- Reaching a Rotary member milestone in September: Linda DStefano 5 years, Derek Green 8 years, Heather Longhenry 20 years and Dave Warren 22 years! Congratulations on your years of service!
- Derek did a demo (see Zoom recording) on how to preorder your luncheon for our meetings. Look f or an email from Derek with a link to the Sign up Genius and make your selection. Some have reported not receiving the emails sent from Club Runner. If your email address is correct, check your spam or promotions folder and see if it's there. If you have questions, reach out to Derek or Mandy. Reservations are due on the Tuesday before the next meeting. Cost is $12. If you invite a prospective member as your guest, order them a meal and make a note in the comment section so you will not be billed for their meal.
- Welcome to our Exchange student Rosie, and thanks to the Drozdowicz family for hosting a welcome party last week. You can meet her in person at our meeting on Monday. Remember to ask Dan for the paperwork to get your background check completed so you can include her in activities.
- Our second week Calendar raffle winner ($100) was won by Mike R. Not sure of last name spelling-
- Steve: RI celebrates Vocational Month in October. Our Club has an annual Vocational Day, Oct. 17th this year. We're looking for 4 or 5 businesses to host members for our luncheon meeting that day and share your business with those who attend. You'll be ordering luncheon for those who sign up and be reimbursed by the Club. Let Steve know if you would like to showcase your business on 10.17 on our Vocational Day. WHen we have the locations confirmed, sign ups will be sent around.
- Mandy would like some volunteers to raise their hand and be part of a fundraising committee to event plan an October Polio fundraiser. The headlines on Polio are alarming, and now more than ever, RI's Polio eradication efforts need support. Want to help plan a Packer Party? A Chili cook off night? A meat raffle? Have another fundraising idea? Get in touch with Mandy! Our event last year raised $3400.
- Mick: District 6250 is looking for some District Governor nominees. Are you interested in learning more about the opportunity of being a District Governor or know someone who would be a good candidate? Reach out to Mick or past DG Dave Warren to learn more.
- 50/50 raffle was won by Danielle, again- congrats!
