Todays Meeting
- Happy birthday this week to Bill Boyd on 8.23. Next week Pres. Derek has a birthday on 8.29, and Thom Thomassen on 8.31- happy birthday!
- Look for update on meals and costs - meals will resume on Sept. 12th.
- Which also serves as a reminder: NO MEETING ON AUGUST 29th (5th Monday) OR SEPTEMBER 5- Happy Labor Day!
- Save the date for our picnic at Arndt farm on 9.17- and sign up for a dish to bring at our next meeting or tell Derek or Dave Arndt.
- Our first Calendar Raffle drawing was held, and the big $1000 winner was Aaron Thomas- congratulations! We sold 581 tickets (out of 1000), and will be pulling a winner every Monday.
- Look for an email from Dan D with a link to Central States background check and start the volunteer application to get your background check done. Rosie is arriving tomorrow. STD; Dan plans to have a welcome party for Rosie at his home on 9.11, 4-7:30. Stay tuned for more details.
- Mandy would like some volunteers to raise their hand and be part of a fundraising committee to event plan an October Polio fundraiser. The headlines on Polio are alarming, and now more than ever, RI's Polio eradication efforts need support. Want to help plan a Packer Party? A Chili cook off night? A meat raffle? Have another fundraising idea? Get in touch with Mandy! Our event last year raised $3400.
- 50/50 raffle was won By Danielle- congrats!
- Thanks to all who helped with our 3rd Corn Drive Thru event on Saturday. Dan D, Mick and Rick were largely responsible for the arrangements ahead of time. Dave Arndt brought us 13,420 lbs of sweet corn (6.75 tons), and stayed behind the truck unloading it all with Dibs Cullen, Randy L, Frank S, and Whitey. Many Rotarians then bagged it (1100 bags?) , carried it to the general public or Making the Grade lanes, and others handed it out. The rain stayed away and all (?) the Corn was given away. Other Rotarians sold Calendar Raffle tickets and directed traffic. When everything has been tabulated, we'll get a fundraising total. Many thanks to all who helped out- you directly helped support all our projects. Mandy coordinated the student recognition Making the Grade (thanks to Brennen Steil for sponsorship) and our 4 Scholarship winners were:
Milton H.S.: Thomas Wallace
Rock River Charter School: Brianna Findlay
Craig: Lidia Sherfinski
Parker: Ella Hove
There were also 16 winners of $50 cash cards from all the Schools.
Our Sponsors from this event will be recognized on our social media and at a future meeting- we would not be successful without them!
