Today's Program
  • This was our final meeting of 2018. Our next meeting at Rotary Gardens will be on January 7th, 2019!  Wishing everyone a joyous and blessed Christmas and New Year!
  • Birthdays this week: Dennis Beggs on 12.17, Linda Thomas on 12.20. Happy Birthday!
  • Board meeting on 12.19 at Bodacious Brew, 7:30 AM. All are welcome to attend.
  • If you're interested in helping a UW-Madison Grad Student's fieldwork project on public opinion, please let Pres. Mick know and he will give you contact info for her interviews in January.
  • Thanks to all who attended the bell ringing for Salvation Army, and the family Light Show social- with thanks to those who arranged both events!
  • Mari Vi updated us on her life since she was last with us. Her family moved to Columbia and are settling in. She is planning to double major in Multi Media and Corporate Communications. She enjoyed being back here for our Centennial and seeing friends.
  • Mick read a thank you note from Gabby and Sam for the Christmas tip presented to them last week.
  • Becky said the Light Show set a record on Saturday with 7000 attendees. Over 31,000 people have enjoyed the show to date, and you have 2 more weekends to come experience it- this is a "don't miss"!
  • Raffle: Lucky Tami Kellerman won both the drawing AND a secondary drawing of Chocolate treats provided by Rick/Jax. The $232 JP will roll into 2019.
Bill Vogt updated us on our Foundation Endowment Fund. Our Club has an Endowment Fund (separate from the RI Endowment Fund), which was started many years ago as the Camp Rotamer Fund. In 1979 Gil Sedor helped draft the Endowment Foundation by laws to be used as a source to support local charitable giving. It has been updated twice more, last in 2016, to make it more relevant. No more than 4% profit of the permanently endowed funds can be allocated/used each year. Thanks to a generous bequest from Member Ralph Schlintz, our Fund currently stands at $130K. There are several ways you can contribute to our Endowment Fund, including outright contributions, regular or over time, through a Charitable Trust or testimentary gift, or an IRA rollover when you turn 70 1/2. Would you like more information? Visit our website, www.janesvillerotary.org. On the Home Page, look under About our Club and click the Endowment link.
