Steve Dean showed us slides today from one of the many bicycle trips he takes with his wife Cathy. When they first met, she told him she enjoyed doing 2 things: dancing and bike riding. They've been doing both ever since. Before their 5 children came along, they went on many long rides, including one across Iowa that took 6 days. Family bike trips were a part of their family life. He estimates that they rode over 95,000 miles early on, and now average 4,000 miles a year. The trip he showed us pictures of started in Maine, and they traveled through New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York and Washington DC. They visited many historical homes and textile mills, monuments, and parkways. Nowadays they book overnights at Air BnB's, and travel light, and use google maps to plan routes on bike paths. Steve has been a teacher for 44 years and owns Mocha Moments. Sundays are reserved for non profit groups to raise money with donated product, which has raised over $105 K to date for non profits in our community.
