Allison DeGraff, Director of Innovation and Learning in the Janesville School District (prev. Curriculum & Instruction) Gave us an overview of the focus as we emerge from the past 2 years. Current demographics have our enrollment numbers down (9,600 students) with 52% students economically disadvantaged. We have 12 elementary Schools, 3 middle Schools, 4 Charter Schools and a P4J program. The focus is to reach a goal of having 90% of our students reading at grade level and math proficiency and align curriculum with State standards and assessments. State reporting and assessment includes STAR, Forward, ACT and Aspire. 10-15% dropped below grade level through COVID/virtual schooling. There are attendence concerns with H.S. students and the District plans to hire Attendence Liasons from the $16 million esser funds. She wants to address School Improvement plans with Principals and are utilizing community partners for Student support.
