Paul Harris Fellows
The Paul Harris Society (est. 1957) was established to honor individual Rotarians who contribute $1000 to the Rotary International Foundation with a Paul Harris Fellow designation. Last week our Club had the honor to present two Paul Harris Fellows honors. Denise Webb was awarded her 4th Paul Harris, and Frank Scott a Paul Harris PLUS 7! Congratulations to Denise and Frank and thank you for your financial commitment to Rotary International Foundation.

Today's Program
  • Be the Inspiration!
  • Happy birthday to Lissa on 1.23!
  • Congratulations to Patty and Gary this week as they're honored at the Forward Janesville luncheon!
  • Have you signed up to give an Invocation yet with Janelle? If not, pick a date and let her know.
  • The next Supper Club Fellowship dining opportunity will be Monday 2.4 at Fredrick's Supper Club in Milton. Email Dave if you want to come. This is a delicious way to get to know your fellow Rotarians and rotate around to the areas Supper Clubs.
  • Our Community Grant application period is open until 2.28. Encourage any organizations you know or work with to apply through the application on our home page. We will give six $500 Grants in March after a Committee vote. If you'd like to be part of the Committee, we still need a few more volunteers.
  • Raffle: Visitor Roger Merry won $20, and JP of $308 rolls over.
Our Speaker today was Ray Jewell. He has been working for the past year to start a new non profit organization, Janesville Community Center. Ray believes poverty is our community's biggest problem. As a resident in the diverse 4th Ward, he has seen some of the negative impact on families caused by poverty. When he learned that 95% of all Wilson Elementary students had free lunch assistance (and 47% of Rock County is at poverty level) he decided to expand his plans for assistance to all of Janesville. He has talked to many of the non profit organizations in our area as he plans the programs the Community Center will offer so as not to duplicate services and believes that his 'out of the box' thinking will help people to help themselves and get adults and youth involved to enhance their lives in a positive way. He hopes to partner with the Police and Justice departments to help with his first priority: job placement and youth leadership development. The biggest obstacle is finding a location for a base and funding and he hopes to get support from businesses and individuals in our community.
