  • RSVP to our Centennial celebration  by next Monday, 11.29!  We had some invitations returned due to incorrect addresses in our membership master. If your information- phone, address, work, etc. changes, notify Tom Jacob so your information is updated. Check and make sure yours is correct when Tom sends it out. If you did NOT receive an invitation, let me know.
  • There will be a special motivational speaker at our meeting next week. Reach out to any younger professionals you know and encourage them to join you for an engaging lunch and speaker and learn more about Rotary. We have reached our District goal of 4 new Members, who will be receiving money from the District for a project of their choosing.
  • Raffle: Bob Cullen won $19, and the $169 rolls over.
Mr. 'Be the Inspiration' , Dave Warren, talked about the Rotary Foundation today. This Foundation has earned Charity Navigator's highest 4 Star rating (look it up!) with 92% of funds going directly to programs and services. How does that help and  break down in our District? Of the $636,929 donated in District 6250 this year, $427,883 goes to the Annual Fund, $164,752 to 'other' (Polio Plus), and $44,293 to Endowment Funds. After 3 years,  50% is returned back to support our District Grants, and the other 50% goes into a Global Grant fund. A District Grant is a service project under 30K ($500 min, $14,500 max), has to be initiated by a Club to support educational or humanitarian activities, and is intended as 'seed' money (can't repeat). This is how we were able to sponsor the Miss RemarkABLE pageant last weekend- we received a District Grant based on the money returned from donations made 3 years ago. Global Grants are for projects over $30K, with long term, sustainable and measurable outcomes. In 2018-19, our District funded 17 Global projects with $82,475 in Grants. Dave gave examples of how Global Grants can multiply by the World Match Fund, turning $15K into $35K by the power of RI.
If you aren't currently donating to RI Foundation and would like your contribution joined with this powerful Foundation, Rotary makes it easy. See the flier below to learn how easily you can be part of Every Rotarian, Every Year($100 annual) by donating the equivalent of $.27 a day. Unless you designate an area, your donation goes into the Annual Fund managed by RI. You can be recognized in a number of ways: Paul Harris Fellow recognition (when you reach $1K- our Club has 54!), Paul Harris Society ($1K annually- District 6250 has 70!), Major Donor (after $10K),  Arch Klumph Society ($250K), or the Bequest Society ($10K in will). Our Club now has the highest per capita level of donations in District 6250 ($538). As you consider end of the year gifting and the impact you want your money to have, please consider harnessing the power of Rotary International by signing up for regular donations. Any amount, combined with other Rotarians in our District and the RI Foundation, can have a major impact here and around the world.
Dave is a great knowledge base and resource to ask any question about the RI Foundation.
