The scourge of Alzheimer's is ever present. When our speaker from the Alzheimer's Association, Pam Thewis, asked the room if they had a family member with the disease, a majority of hands went up. Thewis went on to describe some of the common warning signs, which should trigger a visit to the family doctor.

Here are the problems she detailed:

-Memory loss that disrupts daily life.
-Planning and problem solving.
-Trouble completing familiar tasks.
-Difficulty with visualizing images and distances.
-New issues with speaking.
-Regularly misplacing things.
-Exercising poor judgment.
-Limiting social time and abandoning hobbies.
-Mood changes or depression.

Alzheimer's a complex disease and can vary, depending on the patient.
