Showtime for 60 Years!

Children's Theatre of Madison (CTM) has been putting on a show, actually 265 shows, for six decades. The organization's Executive Director, Rotarian Allen Ebert, says the Children's Theatre puts on 5-7 productions each year. Of the 1,500 school-age kids who participate, it may well be their first exposure to live theatre.

He says not only is the experience invigorating for the participants, he says the arts are a significant driver to the economy and quality of life for the community. The theatre's productions draw 23,000 audience members each year. The most enduring performance is the Christmas Carol, which CTM has produced for 50 years.

Ebert says the Children's Theatre is still working to get back on track financially, following the devastating COVID outbreak that caused the stage to go dark for two years. He says the fact that they had a budget reserve saved the organization from sudden death. The effort now is to rebuild its reserves.
