About 230 guests attended the annual event, raising an impressive $91,500 to help support Sumner Rotary’s many projects, including a new Multi-Service Center and playground equipment for Daffodil Valley Elementary.

Among the festivities of dinner, Heads or Tails, Raise the Paddle, live auction, music and dancing was honoring the club’s Rotarian of the Year -- Lauri McCleod! Described as a fiery Rotarian who embodies our motto, “Service Above Self,” Lauri has combined her passion to help others and talent in business to lead several successful fundraising events for our club, among other notable endeavors.

Check out this heart-warming video, shown at the Gala, which captured some real and raw struggles of those who’ve fallen on hard times in our community, and the extraordinary impact the Sumner-Bonney Lake Family Center had on these grateful families.

And don’t miss Gala guests’ fun glam moments. As the evening progressed, so did the spunk and sass in these creative photos.

Of course without our sponsors, this event wouldn’t be the success that it was. Thanks goes to these generous event sponsors:

- A Advanced Septic
- Al Lago Restaurant and Catering
- Doug Andrews (RBC Wealth Management)
- Rob Blair (Movement Mortgage)

- J. Patrick Duffy (Attorney at Law)
- Expert Air Control

- Kelley Farm
- McFarland’s Flooring Encounters
- Lauri McLeod (John L. Scott, Lake Tapps)

Rotarian of the Year

We congratulate Lauri McCleod, who was named Sumner Rotary’s Rotarian of the Year, a well-deserved honor bestowed at the club’s annual Giving Gala on March 8.

Lauri joined Sumner Rotary in 2011 as a means to give back to her community ― a community she calls home with her husband of 33 years, 3 children, and a soon-to-be grandchild.

As a driven and award-winning real estate agent for more than 25 years, Lauri brings her passion to help others and talent in business to chair some of our club’s most successful fundraising events, such as Girls Night Out and the Giving Gala.

Sumner Rotary thanks Lauri for her commitment to community while eloquently modeling our club’s motto, Service Above Self.
