Congratulations, Sarah Dageenakis!Sarah Dageenakis (she is the one on the right) is the kind of Rotarian we all strive to be. Whenever help is needed, Sarah’s hand is the first in the air. She is bubbly and upbeat, and confident that every project will be a success. She has tackled public relations by taking on the Facebook and Club Runner posts. Her other committees are fundraising and community service. She doesn’t let that stop her from helping the other committees get their projects done. For all these reasons, Sarah has been chosen as this year’s Rotarian of the Year. Thank you, Sarah, for your heart of service. ![]() |

The Rotary Foundation Centennial ProjectEtta Turner was an individual – unconventional, inquisitive, sarcastic and caring. She loved humanity, embracing everyone. She also loved life, living it to the fullest. In 2002, her adventurous spirit led her to the South Kitsap Rotary Exchange program and on to Bolivia. At sixteen, her life tragically ended on a bus trip into the mountains. From her death, however, arose a wonderful organization called Etta Projects that helps children and families. Although Etta touched souls on three continents, she is most dearly missed here, by the Port Orchard Community she called home. To honor Etta's memory, the South Kitsap Rotary club constructed a park on Bay Street in 2004. Half of the proceeds from the bricks being sold will be used for making needed electrical, structural, and landscaping updates. The remaining proceeds will be donated to Etta Projects in Bolivia, to be used for a humanitarian project consisting of vision, dental, and clean water. |

A Letter from David Frederick at the Coffee Oasis.April 21, 2013
To Friends of The Coffee Oasis-Port Orchard:
Great News!!
We have signed a lease on the 807A Bay Street “Ale House” building in downtown Port Orchard as the new location of The Coffee Oasis in Port Orchard!
Our lease begins May 1, 2013 with four months allotted for the remodel. Our ambitious goal will be to be operational by the end of July. That means we have a lot to accomplish by then!
As you can see from the attached “Coffee Oasis-Port Orchard Expansion Plan”, the crucial needs to accomplish this project in good time are funds, equipment and volunteers.
Our fundraising goal by August 2013 is…$97,000. So far…almost $40,000 has been raised!!
Our equipment needs are attached and, if donated, would significantly reduce the funds needed to be raised. Exact equipment types and models needed can be given upon request.
Our volunteer needs are also listed in the attached “Plan”. The timely success of the remodel obviously depends hugely on volunteer labor. There will be regular work parties established as well as the opportunity for particular aspects of the project to be “owned” by specific individuals.
Thank you so much for helping The Coffee Oasis-Port Orchard become a reality!
If you have any questions, would like to donate funds or equipment, or like to volunteer please contact: Megan Sheppard, Port Orchard Contact, The Coffee Oasis – 360-434-4244, megan.sheppard@thecoffeeoasis.com

The Penny Incentive System
Once again Rotario has gone and shown us why he is not only an invaluable member of our club but also to the entire International Organization. Introducing the Rotario approved (and funded) Penny Incentive Program.
One day Rotario asked himself…”what would make me want to bring in more members to Rotary?” Then Rotario realized the thought of a lifetime: The magical penny!!! Rotario’s latest innovation is specially designed to help your club or organization get more members! Rotario’s new “Penny Incentive System” was specially designed with a built in human incentive: Bright shiny Lincoln pennies. Bring in a member-Get a shiny new penny! Bring in two members-get two shiny pennies. Bring in three-three pennies. You get the point! Become rich bringing in new members to your organization!!!!!!! Want to learn more? Download the brochure. |
