January Meetings Zoom Only
Due to the COVID Omicron variant and the 'unknowns,' all January Rotary lunch time meetings will be ZOOM ONLY. As much as we would love to see all of you in person, we feel this is the best decision for the health of the Club, as well as the folks who work at Kitsap Golf and Country Club.

Welcome Back Mariam James and Patti Van Patten!
What a fun Zoom meeting we enjoyed on January 6 when we welcomed former members Mariam James and Patti Van Patten back into our Club!  Patti and Mariam are on the right of the two bottom rows below (note everyone clapping!).
You can watch the inductions starting at Minute 24:00 of the following Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/rec/share/v3AFxQoPsnPpXPdLgIc2z1eULAkI45kEDnWtyEQxOFLzP1hN0bkZmiM_XAZbt6W-.m1kQ6Dar1PnN2QpM   passcode 1w=M^1uf

Pictured below: Even though Mariam had to leave the club because of business pressures in 2017, she has helped in a very big way with every Turkey Trot since! She also served on the International Service Committee (shown with Peg Templeton and a new embroidered club shirt).

Patti is our newest Virtual Member because she now resides in Oconto, Wisconsin.  Patti was very active as Youth Exchange Coordinator - and we have her to thank for "picking" our own Matej Kunak as our Club Exchange Student for 2016-17.  Patti shared that in addition to owning several pets, she fosters kittens for the Humane Society.  See below, along with a photo from our 2015 Pancake Breakfast.

Welcome back, Mariam and Patti!

DACdb Mobile App Info
On January 6, President Elect Cathy named Barbara Beagle as Rotarian of the Month for December 2021 for the continuing extensive work on the transition of our club records and website/Breeze from Clubrunner to DACdb (District and Club database).

But, you may ask, “what’s in it for me?”  We are glad you asked! 😊

While we aren’t ready to entirely “flip the switch” yet, please be aware that all our Rotarians’ official Rotary records have been transitioned to DACdb, which is the system that Rotary International synchs up with for Rotarian data (no longer Clubrunner). The good news is that DACdb has a mobile app that is more comprehensive in functionality than the Clubrunner mobile app.

The DACdb app can now be found in your Apple or Android app store.  You will need to log in to use it, just like everything “behind the password” in Clubrunner. Your username/login name may be your email in your Rotary record (the majority of Rotarians), or it may be your Clubrunner username (a few), or whatever you have changed it to.  If you don’t know your username, please contact Barbara at twobees2@earthlink.net or text 360-710-5173.

Here is the screen that will appear when you install and log in to DACdb:
You can search for contact information for any Rotarian in the Club and District 5020!  Note that the last item on the Menu – Support – has huge capabilities.  Scroll all the way down to see announcements, instructional videos, help search, and much more.

Update to Don Taylor - Recent Rotarian Deaths
Past Silverdale President Don Taylor.  From Facebook: ”Donald Taylor passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 23rd. He was a devoted father to his four kids and husband to his late wife, and a proud Navy veteran.”
Pictured left to right in 2012: son Donald Taylor II, Mary Gerry Taylor, Donald Taylor, with son Patrick Taylor standing behind

Don was one of our longest running members and held many offices: Secretary twice, President in 1986-87, District Secretary several years, Foundation Chair, Membership chair.  In January 2018 he was awarded an Honorary membership.  His wife Mary Jerry was a beloved Silverdale Rotarian 7from 2004 until 2014 when she passed away.

Clifford L. Dochterman, a past Rotary International President (PRIP) and university administrator, died on 23 November 2021. He was 95.  Dochterman, who was known for his lively sense of humor, ready smile, and positive outlook on life, served as RI president in 1992-93.

An accomplished public speaker, he was recognized around the world as one of the premier spokespersons for Rotary.  Most Rotarians who attended President Elect Training Seminar (PETS) would remember his amazing speeches and quick wit.  To read more about PRIP Cliff’s service to Rotary, go to Past Rotary International President Clifford L.
