Stolen: Iconic Silverdale Rotary Duck Race Symbol

PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE  RELEASE
CONTACT INFORMATION: SILVERDALE ROTARY CLUB, Steven Boe
RELEASE DATE:  07/07/19

WHERE’S WADDLES?

StolenIconic Silverdale Rotary Duck Race Symbol

Silverdale, WA July 3, 2019Waddles, one of the large 15-foot inflatable ducks used to publicize the annual Silverdale Rotary Duck Race, was stolen from the parking lot of Advantage Nissan in Bremerton. A police report #T19000215 was filed with the Bremerton PD.

The replacement cost of the duck is valued at $2000.  More significant is the loss of marketing that it provides, which will greatly affect ticket sales. The annual Silverdale Rotary Duck Race has raised over 1.6 million dollars for our community. Lost ticket sales will directly impact service organizations throughout Kitsap County that help feed homeless teens, provide shelter for victims of domestic violence, promote literacy, education, and many other services.

Silverdale Rotary Club president Christie Scheffer says, “While we understand the humor behind a missing 15-foot duck named Waddles, it doesn’t diminish the monetary affect its theft has on the community.” Rotarians Brian & Barbara Beagle will donate five Duck Quack Packs (25 tickets) to anyone providing information leading to the return of Waddles the Duck.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the duck, is asked to please contact the Bremerton Police department or email the Silverdale Rotary Club at SilverdaleRotaryClub@gmail.com
