Visit Kitsap Peninsula - Patricia Graf-Hoke (Director) spoke about what sets our Kitsap Peninsula apart. Founded in 1983, Visit Kitsap Peninsula (VKP) is an official member of WA State Destination Marketing Organization (WSDMO), funded by Kitsap County, cities, tribes, and other government agencies, and is headquartered right here in Silverdale.
Their mission is to promote the region’s tourism and encourage prospects to choose Kitsap for day and overnight visits, and promote the region as “the natural side of Puget Sound” while supporting Kitsap County’s economic goals, quality of life, and environment. Patty shared that tourism is big business, and since 2010, tourism spending has increased 43%!
What makes Kitsap special??  Kitsap County boasts 371 miles of coastline, acres of open space and outdoor recreation, every major town is on the waterfront, urban amenities, award winning brews and wines, culture, history, art, golf… the list could go on and on. Visit Kitsap Peninsula markets our distinct natural assets, promoting our proximity to Seattle, and promoting Kitsap as its own destination versus the ‘gateway’ to somewhere else.
You can find their marketing materials on the Washington State ferries, and if you’d like to learn more, visit their website:
