Elayne Burton joined Rotary in 2003. Throughout the years Elayne has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to service: She was Club President in 2011/12; Duck Race Chair in 2012/13; Area 9 Assistant Governor from 2012 – 2015, District 5020 Trainer from 2015-2018, and is currently serving on the District Youth Protection Committee and as our Youth Protection Officer And she has simultaneously served as our Club Treasurer for most of those years.

One is only able to accomplish all of this with a huge investment in time and effort and a dedication to Service Above Self!

Being Treasurer of our Club is a huge, year-long job!  There is budget preparation, management and reports preparation; managing all of our Club accounts; and the immense undertaking of managing sponsor donations, sponsorship forms, and reporting of earnings from the Duck Race and now the Turkey Trot. These fundraising efforts are governed by the Washington State Gambling Commission, and Elayne is one of our key gatekeepers insuring we are legally complaint with State laws.

Elayne is a Paul Harris Fellow, and she and her husband Steve have given generous financial support to The Rotary Foundation's six areas of focus to build international relationships, improve lives, and create a better world to support our peace efforts and end polio forever:
In the past Elayne worked in Child Protective Services. So it is no surprise that she is now our Youth Protection Officer, which comes with significant responsibility for the safety and welfare of our Exchange Students, training and certification requirements, a U.S. State Department test on an annual basis, and annual recertification of our Club.

We are blessed to have Elayne in our Club, and we recognize and honor Elayne Burton for her 16 years of commitment to moving Rotary’s mission of Service Above Self forward in our Club, locally, and internationally!

Along with the certificate, as a token of sincere gratitude, Rotarian David Jordon presented a few cases of Diet Dr. Pepper and Coke Zero to resupply her stock through Duck Race season!
