What’s been going on at the Kitsap Mall lately? Plenty!

Silverdale Rotarian and General Manager of the Mall, Erin Leedham (pictured on left), proudly showcased the mall’s recent transformation. “I work in an amazing place, with the best team and caring customers,” Erin shared.

Owned by Starwood Retail Partners, the Kitsap Mall is being reinvented to meet the changing needs of shoppers and the community.

Since 2013, the shopping complex has grown to include seven new restaurants including Buffalo Wild Wings, Potbelly Sandwich Shop, Moctezuma’s and (this writer’s favorite) World of Beer. The food-court style eateries such as Orange Julius, Subway and Baskin Robbins have been remodeled or relocated.

Big-name retailers are now in Silverdale instead of a drive over the bridge. From Dick’s Sporting Goods to fashion bargains at H&M, there is something to catch everyone’s eye. Erin summarized the expansion with, “At one point, we had 14 general contractors working on 15 different projects at the same time. People pardoned our dust and noise, and it was well worth it.”

Walk, wheel or push children through the mall, and it is clear that adding new stores was only part of the project. The mall is now more accessible to all with a family/single-use restroom, upgraded interior seating, and a beautifully landscaped pocket park on the west side of Dick’s that hosts art walks, Chamber of Commerce events, performances and more.

Love the new salmon sculptures and Northwest décor in the core of the mall? Thank our own resident glass artist, Lisa Stirrett!

Anyone who has met Erin knows that she is all about embracing and building community. Adopting Starwood Retail’s award-winning Live 360° retail experience, Erin is harnessing the minds of hundreds of local community leaders to create a comprehensive schedule of events that meet organizations’ needs and develop relationships.

The April 18 round table will take the idea to the next level; but, the Mall is already hosting flu shot clinics, yoga classes, STEM events, art exhibitions, a lending library and Silverdale Rotary hands-on projects.

Face-to-face shopping still accounts for approximately 91% of total sales. Savvy retailers know that bridging their businesses with e-commerce and finding creative ways to maximize space utilization make sense. The Kitsap Mall, with Erin Leedham’s forward-thinking leadership, is remaining relevant and vital to Silverdale and the surrounding area.
