President Christie and Scott Shoemaker warmly welcomed our military guests, thanking them for their service and sharing that it is our club’s honor to celebrate their accomplishments. Each honoree received a plaque and gift cards to Silver City and Applebee’s.

Marine Security Force Battalion Bangor
  • Master at Arms Chief (MAC) Shannon Schwartz introduced his sailors.
    • Sailor of the Quarter was awarded to Master-at-Arms (MA2) Justin Mahanic who was described by Schwartz as a model sailor. Mahanic shared that he enlisted in Indiana and served a tour in Afghanistan.
    • Blue Jacket of the Quarter went to MASN Emma Vancleef who is currently on leave. Schwartz informed us that Vancleef completed her qualifications for the security force in half the standard time.
       
  • Gunnery Sergeant Gullickson introduced his Marines.
    • Marine of the Quarter is Corporal Griffin Grieder, a nuclear security team leader with commendations for service in the community. Grieder was born in Michigan, and he shared that he serves proudly and loves all of his fellow Marines.
    • Noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter was awarded to Sergeant Michael Soto, who runs the defense travel and credit card systems. Soto is working on a degree in business from the American Military University.
Naval Base Kitsap
  • Chief Navarro introduced his sailors.
    • 4th Quarter 2019 Sailor of the Quarter was awarded to Culinary Specialist Submarine (CSS) Eileen Davis. Davis is the Galley Watch Captain responsible for teaching food service financial management to others. She is a blood donor, and she volunteers in the community at every opportunity.
    • Senior Sailor of the Quarter is Culinary Specialist (CS1) Michael Macomber who runs funeral services for fallen veterans and has logged 7,500 hours of service to the community. Macomber has been married for 18 years and has two sons.
    • Sailor of the Quarter was awarded to Master-at-Arms (MA2) Jesse Anders who was unable to attend.
    • Junior Sailor of the Quarter went to Culinary Specialist (CS3) Alexis Cornelison. Cornelison boarded her first ship in Norfolk, VA, and she loves working in the galley feeding her teammates.
    • Bluejacket of the Quarter was awarded to MASN Angela Vale who was unable to attend.
USCG Maritime Force Protection Unit, Bangor
  • Master Chief Chris Fly introduced his Coastguardsman 
    • Coastguardsman of the Quarter went to Gunner’s Mate GM3 Nate Gonzalez who services weapons and stocks ammunition. Gonzalez started his military career in the Navy, took a break to attend school and work as an EMT, and joined the Coast Guard in 2015. He is married and has an 8 year old son.
