On December 12 Rotarians filled over 240 bags of food to help ensure at-risk students in 17 Central Kitsap School District schools won’t go hungry over the winter break.  The food was purchased using Silverdale Rotary Turkey Trot proceeds.
The bagging was organized in an assembly line to fill and load the food bags, with others to haul the bags to delivery vehicles, and plenty of folks to deliver the bags to the respective schools.  Many hands made for light work, but with a big impact on our local community!
Our Rotary Club places a high priority on helping to feed these hungry kids! And it’s truly a community effort. Some shout outs go to:
- CKFR Chief John Oliver (pictured below 5th from left) coordinated a host of CKFR volunteers to assist with the food pick-up the day before and preparations for putting out on bagging day!
- Kitsap Mall Manager Erin Leedham (pictured above center) and Angie Pomeroy provided meeting, storage and packing space as well as assistance from the professional and kind Security Team at the Mall in support of this great project!
- Kitsap Regional Library Branch Manager Ashley Oaksmith provided a copy of the KRL Inspire Magazine to go in every bag - connecting kids to literacy, classes and culture!
- Safeway for donating the bags!
- All our Rotarians and wonderful volunteers that have stepped up to prep, pack and deliver the food to the schools!
Thank you to all -  this is a great example of Service Above Self!
