Cathy Bohman, the Community Connector at Silverdale Lutheran Church (SLC), is “Bridging the Gap” by providing ten books to every second grader at Silver Ridge and Esquire Hills elementary schools. The program is designed to help students maintain their literacy levels during summer break, so that they return to school as third graders ready to move forward.Rotarian Erin Leedham (pictured on right) presented Cathy (on left) with a Duck Buck check for $1,500 that will fund much of the project. SLC has developed a partnership with Scholastic Books that keeps the books affordable and ensures delivery to the children by early June. President Rick reminded our club members that “Our work on the Duck Race is responsible for great outcomes like this!”
