Silverdale Rotarians hosted 2017 Silverdale Rotary Duck Race Sponsors at a Thank You lunch on June 8.  Chuck Kraining, the 2017 Duck Race Chair, opened with the following remarks:  “Thanks to our generous sponsors who have covered ALL of our Duck Race expenses, every dollar raised through ticket sales will go to charitable causes!” Building on our success each year, the 24th Annual Duck Race is poised to set records with 93 sponsors, 65 prizes totaling $51,533, cash sponsorships totaling $35,575, with total sponsorship support of $120,575!

While all of our sponsors are important, special recognition goes to Advantage Nissan for donating the Duck Truck (or $16,000 Cash) - see below.
“Without this headline prize, there would be no Duck Race.

And…,” Chuck stated, “No one can pass up the chance to win a million dollars.” (see above)

Inviting Marilynn Sharpnack and Cheryl Davis from Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort to come up, Chuck explained that the Casino is a loyal sponsor of the Million Dollar Duck. The ladies (on left and right) proudly presented Chuck and President Cindy Holmes (center) with a gigantic check for $7,500!

Turning  Duck Race proceeds into Changing Lives, every year Duck Bucks support projects in our community and across the globe.  Scroll down in our website at www.silverdalerotaryclub.org to see descriptions of those grants and projects. We were fortunate to have two Duck Bucks grant recipients share testimonials.
Rosie Ludlow (pictured above), the Executive Director of Scarlet Road in Bremerton, spoke of the laptop computers in the organization’s Drop-In Center funded with Duck Race proceeds that allow young adults who are escaping sexual exploitation to search for a job.

Then Dr. Thomas Hawks (pictured above) from CK Back Packs 4 Kids then took the microphone and relayed that our support provided 480 weekend meals for low-income families.

After being treated to lunch and learning of the impact of their support, our sponsors were given homemade cookies, and a drawing was held for two gift certificates donated by Oak Table Restaurant.

And, to top it all off, Lucky, our Duck Race mascot, posed for pictures in the lobby.
Shown above with Lucky are two long time Duck Race Sponsors:  Club President Cindy Holmes (Holmes Mechanical) and Kim Peterson (Kitsap Bank). What a great way to kick off what will be a record-breaking Duck Race!
