It’s so gratifying for Silverdale Rotary Club to be able to award scholarships to graduating high school seniors, and this year was no exception, although we had to meet via Zoom to do it.  That didn’t dampen the spirits of our very deserving awardees on June 11, when we awarded a total of $13,000 to ten very talented and hard working young men and women from Central Kitsap High School (CKHS) and Klahowya Secondary School (KSS).  The awardees are:
  • Cleveland, Aliyah Nicole, CKHS
  • Collins, Caitlin Anne, KSS
  • Giesbrecht, Lilianna, CKHS
  • Homewood, Delaney, CKHS
  • Huang, Alexander, CKHS
  • La Belle, Skylar Ayumi, CKHS
  • Lander, Benjamin, CKHS
  • Martin, Hope Marie, KSS
  • Roy, Megan Alice, CKHS
  • Scott, Emilie, KSS
There were several sources of the $13,000:
$2,000 – donation from Chung’s Teriyaki
$1,000 – donation from Hometown Band – investing in student musicians
$1,000 – donation from Rich and Carol Arper in memory of legendary Rotarian Bob Arper – focusing on STEM
$350 – donations in memory of longtime Rotarian and former CKHS Principal Jack Jensen
$3,500 – matching grant from Rotary District 5020
$5,150 – from Silverdale Rotary Club funds
Thank you to all our generous donors, and congratulations and best wishes to our awardees as they head to college.
