Upcoming Presentation on the Civil War, Medicine, and What Hollywood Gets Wrong

Good day fellow Rotarians! We hope you all can join us for our Zoom meeting on Monday, May 17th at noon.  After fellowship, we will hear from our speaker Dr. Gordon Dammann, a retired dentist and Civil War medicine enthusiast.

Dr. Dammann and his wife moved to Lena in 1971 to to take over Dr. Ziegler's dental practice. And he continued to practice Dentistry in Lena until he retired 42 years later. Dammann is also a Civil War expert. He has written three books on Civil War medicine, his area of expertise. And co-authored several others. One of his biggest accomplishments is the National Museum of Civil War Medicine which is located in Frederick, MD. He began collecting Civil War artifacts in his home in 1971-72. His collection grew to over 3,000 items.

Dr. Dammann will discuss with our Club "what Hollywood shows that's wrong" about Civil War and medicine.
