The Rotary Club of Barbados is pleased to announce the award of an academic scholarship to Mr. Codie Hinds Attorney-at-Law, to pursue Masters-level (LLM) studies in Oil, Gas and Renewable Energy Law at the University of Swansea in Wales, UK.

President of the Rotary Club of Barbados indicated that the scholarship was provided with the support of a grant from the Rotary District 7030.  In extending best wishes to Mr. Hinds on behalf of the Club, Mr. Williams said that “Mr. Hinds’ area of study is very timely as Barbados introduces changes to the legislative and regulatory framework as part of the Government’s stated objective to reach 100% renewable energy by the year 2030.”

In accepting the scholarship, Mr. Hinds shared the view that “skills acquired on the course of study will enable me to assist with policy support for the energy sector as we transition from fossil fuel to renewable energy.” He added that he also sees his role as “educating young minds about the importance of the energy sector in their daily life in order to foster conservationist attitudes in individuals from early and continue the trend of energy efficiency and energy security for future generations.”
