Saddle River — Diane Eisner Stroud, broker-sales associate of RE/MAX Properties in Saddle River, was recently awarded The Gift of Life Humanitarian Service Award by Rotary International District 7490 Gift of Life Foundation. She accepted this award at the Annual Gift of Life Dinner, held recently at The Venetian in Garfield.

This award was given to "a member of whose efforts helped contribute to the cause of international understanding and harmony through love, unselfish dedication and strong character," according to The Gift of Life Foundation.

In 2011, Eisner Stroud graciously hosted a child from Jamaica, Nick Brown, and his mother Beverly. Nick received corrective heart surgery for a congenital heart defect. His surgery was sponsored by The Gift of Life program through the Paramus Rotary Club.

"I was so honored to receive this award from Rotary and The Gift of Life Foundation," said Eisner Stroud. "Giving so little of myself to help a child with a life-saving operation was a very rewarding experience."

The Allendale Saddle River Rotary Club is a member of Rotary District 7490, a district, which encompasses Bergen, Passaic and Hudson Rotary Clubs. Since 1985, District 7490 has sponsored 811 children from around the world who needed surgeries. This rotary district is one of 50 that offer The Gift of Life Program and more than 15,000 children have been helped with this program. In 2011, Rotary District 7490 sponsored 14 in-country surgeries at St. Joe’s, Westchester and Montefiore Medical Centers.
