Guest Speaker - Diane Brown

Posted by Colleen Dick on Jan 20, 2013

Diane Brown came to our meeting to speak about something that she is very passionate about - and speak she did!  Diane worked for the Credit Union for 28 years and was approached by the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton to work for them.  During her 5 years there, she raised a total of 7 million dollars!! Diane is now volunteering at Auggies Cafe - which is at St. Augustine's - Parkland Anglican Church'  This is a place where anyone can congregate for a hot meal and some fellowship and conversation - Every Tuesday from 11am until 1pm.Image Totally financially self-sustaining thanks to the blessings of locally-provided donations of food and cash, each week between 50 and 100 nutritious meals are served to all who are in need. A small army of volunteers provides cooking, clean-up, and conversation that is given in the spirit of helping those in need of food and companionship. Diane has been nominated to be elected to the Board of Directors of Servus Credit Union.  If you would like to vote for Diane, you can do so on line at www.servus.ca.  We thoroughly enjoyed Diane's visit and inspiration and we may consider helping to prepare and serve up a lunch!

Rotary Friendship Exchanges are when Rotarians get to travel to each others country and visit.   It is purely for fun and friendship.  This is when a group of Rotarians travels to their district, and then later a group comes to our district. A fantastic way to travel the world and make friends with people you have something in common with: Rotary! Plans are under way for Rotary year 12/13 exchanges and it should include you!  Click this page for complete details
