Fundraisers & Community Events

Whether it is fundraising for the range of causes we support or simply promoting our club to the community, our members get involved in organising or volunteering at a number of events and activities.
 
Annual events enable the club to raise funds and generate awareness for causes within the community. With substantial funds raised over the past twenty two years, Rotary Hope Island has been a key contributor to these causes and has made life changing impacts!
FACT: In 2025 so far we raised $54,000 through two of our 4 major annual events, the Golf Day ($32,000) and Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show ($22,000).

Charity Golf Day.
 
In it's 23rd year in 2025, our Annual Charity Golf Day attracts a wide range of local business owners and their employees looking for fantastic sponsorship and networking opportunities and a chance to make a difference. This day has become one of the premier Golf Days on the Gold Coast.
 
Players compete for a range of prizes, including a chance to win a car for a hole in one, as well as competing for the Tony Brinsdon Memorial Cup (named in honour of a late club member who was a driving force behind the day).
 
To date this event has managed to raise over $240,000 for a range of causes including disease prevention and eradication, youth homelessness and supporting victims of domestic violence.

Black Tie Extravaganza

We're thrilled to announce the return of our highly anticipated Black Tie Event in 2025! It's been two years since our last spectacular evening, which many of you will remember fondly. That night, guests enjoyed exceptional dining, captivating entertainment from the fabulous Popera Belles, and an inspiring address from our VIP speaker, Campbell Newman – former Queensland Premier, Australian Army Major, and now a successful start-up entrepreneur.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of our club members, supporters, and donors, that event was a resounding success, raising over $35,000 for the Rotary Hope Island Armistice Memorial. We can't wait to make the 2025 event even more memorable!

Sanctuary Cove Boat Show.
 

For many years, our club has been a proud fixture at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, one of the Southern Hemisphere's largest marine events. Over four days, our dedicated volunteers serve thousands of hungry and thirsty visitors from our BBQ tents, and we're incredibly grateful to the organisers for the continued opportunity to participate.

This event is a vital fundraiser for our club, allowing us to support a range of key causes. We've historically contributed to organisations like Kids4Kids, Sailability, Cycling without Age, Disaster Aid Australia, and more recently, we've been proud to back the crucial Malaria Vaccine Project. It's a fantastic effort that truly makes a difference!

Community Events and Activities.
Christmas Golf Buggy Parade
 

The first annual Rotary Club of Hope Island Buggy Parade was in December 2017.  Many golfers in our local community and others using golf buggies to travel around the local area provided an opportunity to big to pass up. The Buggy Parade is a chance for the Hope Island community to come together and enjoy a parade of amazingly decorated buggies, meet Santa and enjoy a sausage or two at our club BBQ.  There are prizes for best buggy, and many others !
