Disbursements from Club funds recommended by the Community Needs Committee and approved by the Board include:

    • $4,700 to TEMBO-Kenya for a conference and training session on fighting corruption;
    • $2,500 for Scouts Canada for building upgrades at Camp Barnard;
    • $9,000 for Camosun College Foundation to fund six trades person scholarships in 2017.  (SAME AMOUNT AS NOTED ABOVE)
    • For a total of $16,200.

    New this year – $15,000 for the Crisis Intervention and Public Information Society of Greater Victoria’s “NEED2 Suicide Prevention and Support Program”.  With cyber bullying, suicide has become much more significant problem than in the past and minimal funding has been provided by the Province or Island Health.  More information is available from Clark.

    In addition, the following have been disbursed from Foundation funds:

    • $1,000 for Leadership Victoria,
    • $1,700 for the Society for the Advancement of Young Scientists, to be used toward their annual science fair,
    • $1,000 for Saanich Neighbourhood Place for the 1000 X 5 literacy program, and
    • $3,000 for Esquimalt High School for scholarships
    • As well, the Club has donated over $14,000 to Victoria hospice from the proceeds of our May Gala.
