My Rotary History
John has been a Rotarian for over 37 years and is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Tsawwassen where he is serving as Director of the International Service Committee. He was president of the Rotary Club of Tsawwassen in 2012-13. From 1990 to 2002, he was a member of the Rotary Club of West Vancouver and served as its president in 1998-99.

In addition to numerous club level positions, John has served on the District Board, the Youth and Foundation Committees as well as chairing the Scholarship Committee. He is a Major Donor and a member of the Paul Harris Society. John is a proud graduate of all three levels of the Rotary Leadership Institute and an RLI Facilitator. In 2018, John chaired the Presidential Conference on Environmental Sustainability and Peace. He took a Vocational Training Team to Kenya in 2019 and lead Phase two of that project 1920-1922
Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, John did his teacher training in his home state of Victoria. He then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Monash University (Australia), a Bachelor of Education and Master of Arts Degree at the University of British Columbia and a Doctorate in Education at Simon Fraser University. John serves as an educational consultant having retired after a long career in public education where he worked as a teacher, school administrator and District Superintendent. John is a teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing and has worked in Australia, England and Saskatchewan as well as throughout British Columbia. John has written numerous journal articles and educational publications and has presented at conferences across Canada and around the world. In retirement he has worked as a consultant for the Ministry of Education throughout BC and as an Inspector of BC Schools in China.
