2nd POSTING for Rhona Deah

Our club paused one week of a new member posting so Rotary applicant, Rhona Deah could serve as Speaker at our meeting on Sept. 21st. Rhona is the current Mrs. York County and will compete at the United States of American State Pageant on October 8 & 9. "This pageant focuses mainly on empowering women to be the best version of themselves while inspiring others," she commented. "And because I strongly believe that when women work together and uplift each other,  AMAZING THINGS HAPPEN." In addition to sharing her pageant journey, Rhona spoke about starting and managing her own business.

Rhona lives in Windham with her spouse, Harrison. She operates a business on Main Street in Biddeford called Rhona Beauty, LLC. Her expertise is to help savvy millennial multi-cultural women achieve their best hair and lashes.

Rhona attended the September 7, 2022 Club meeting and immediately completed the application to join our club. She is being sponsored by Melissa Cilley.

This is Rhona's second posting. Please email the president with comments or questions.

News & Update
To my fellow Rotarians. On Sunday evening at 10:35 pm, my husband and I turned off the television and were ready to turn in for the night. David tripped, lost his balance, and fell, head first into the corner of the credenza. When I was helping him up, I saw blood everywhere. I got a clean towel for his head and called 911. He was taken to SMMC. We spent the night in the ER and he was discharged around 6:30 am. They were able to stop the bleeding with 32 staples in his head.

Needless to say, I cancelled my trip to Toronto and have taken this week off to care for him. We go for a follow-up appointment tomorrow and again on Tuesday but the prognosis looks great. He is blessed to have not suffered a concussion and I expect him to be back to 100% very soon.

As for Toronto, I received some information this evening and anticipate more meeting notes in the next couple of weeks.

See you on Wednesday! Kind regards, Brenda

Rotary Member of the Week

Haley Thompson has been serving in Rotary for 15 years. She has been a member of clubs in Washington, Oklahoma, and Illinois, where she served as club President, before joining the Rotary Club of Biddeford-Saco. Haley loves being a Rotarian because it provides an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who want to make the communities they live in a better place. As a military spouse (now retired), it was an instant way to plug into her new community, make friends, and find meaningful ways to be involved.

Haley works at Thornton Academy as the Director of Development and enjoys fundraising and friendraising for the academy. TA is a special place with a loyal alumni base and supportive community who are committed to investing in the future of the students of today and tomorrow.

She is married to her husband of 18 years, Matt, and has two busy boys - Oliver (13) and Graeme (11). Haley likes to spend her free time enjoying the outdoors and all of the things the great state of Maine has to offer.
