Club Meeting September 3, 2018
 
Opening and Welcome:  President Dick Kisiel opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and the recitation of the Rotary Four-Way Test.  Scott Seabury provided the invocation and led the club singing of “God Bless America”.
 
Members Present: Dale Baker, Gayle Demko, Jed Dery, Frank DiGennaro, Gail Handley, Greg Heineman, Heidi Huhn Partain, Richard Kisiel, Jon Kozloski, Luis Lee, Bob Lowell, Don Miner, Jack Muska, Ken Pascoe, Ray Perleoni, Jay Presser, Charles Roumas and Scott Seabury.  (18/34….53%).
 
Guests: None – Business Meeting tonight.
 
Announcements: President Kisiel made several announcements:
- SOTG Chicken BBQ Fundraiser Setup:  Pit setup starts tonight with Thursday Hut setup.  Ken asks for a cooler rinse volunteer (Scott Seabury complied) and confirmed Ray will pick up charcoal.  Sunday – be on hand at 7 AM for the box folding event, Dick will order coffee and Mrs. Murphy donuts, and at 9:30 AM the health inspector will arrive.  We were reminded to wear a hat (Rotary) per health inspection regulations.  All need to work two shifts to make this event run smoothly and Ken will confirm schedules with a final email of volunteer times.    
 
- Hilltop Farm Chicken Coop Project, Rotary assistance to Sydney Eitel with her sophomore Agriscience project as presented three weeks ago: Ray Perleoni has lead the effort to assist the Eitel family with the chicken coop build - described as creating a 50’ chicken coop within a 300’ space to house 25 chickens.  The giving committee will review the request for funding (as it exceeds $1000) for this project.
 
-Lobster/Steak Social:  Date change to October 9 at Fox Hollow Gun Club.  Dick has organized the event and Heidi will order the food from Highland once the sign up has been completed.  Roger will collect for the meals.
 
PROGRAM: Dick reviewed the Goals and Action Plan for our 2018/2019 year (9 mos. left in this timeframe).  The goals to be met are:
  • Membership – add three new members
  • Publicity – An article monthly in the Observer and other publications
  • District Conference – Nov 1-Enfield; attendance from each committee would be ideal!  Officers should make every effort to attend. 
 
Blue Ticket Winners: Blue ticket winner was Ken Pascoe with sides won by Dick and Scott.
 
Queen of Hearts:  Dick Kiesel had the winning ticket and did not pull the Queen of Hearts.  Total winning pot now stands at $612+.
 
Birthdays and Anniversaries: Anniversaries-Jay and Johanne Presser and Jackie and John Guzie; Birthdays-Tom Sullivan & Jay Presser.
 
Adjournment: Dick Kisiel closed the meeting with a group singing of “God Bless America”.
 
Next week’s meeting (Sept 11) – James Blain - Principal SHS – New to Suffield, James will introduce members to his 2018-19 plans.
