Club Meeting September 11, 2018
Opening and Welcome:  President Dick Kisiel opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and the recitation of the Rotary Four-Way Test.  Scott Seabury provided the invocation and led the club singing of “God Bless America”.
Members Present: Dale Baker, Joe Blake, Gayle Demko, Jed Dery, Frank DiGennaro, Gail Handley, Greg Heineman, Jackie Hemond, Heidi Huhn Partain, Richard Kisiel, Luis Lee, Bob Lowell, Clark Mason, Don Miner, Jack Muska, Ken Pascoe, Ray Perleoni, Roger Pratt, Jay Presser, Charles Roumas, Scott Seabury and Nancy Viggiano.  (22/34….65%).
Guests: David Hemond, Jackie’s husband.
Announcements: President Kisiel made several announcements:
-Dick welcomed David Hemond to our meeting.
-Lobster/Steak Social:  October 9 at Fox Hollow Gun Club to replace the weekly meeting.  Roger is accepting registration and payment for the $25 dinner; October 3 is the cutoff date for registration and food ordering.
-Sand and Salt:  Karen Mason will get an article into the Suffield Observer for this event.
-Giving Committee:  FOFAH support for the chicken coop project with the Eitel family on Hilltop Farm was discussed and the recommendation of a $2000 gift was recommended.  After discussion a proposal of budget increase to $3500 was approved.  This is the amount required to renovate the roof and shore up the sides of the 40’ renovation area of a 240’ building.  The prison volunteers will rehab the windows and FOFAH is reviewing a request for a $1000 grant.
-District Conference – Nov 1-Enfield; attendance from each committee would be ideal!  Officers should make every effort to attend.
PROGRAM:  Dick Kisiel and Luis Lee welcomed Jackie Hemond as an official member of the Suffield Rotary.  Jackie’s bio described noted details about her life growing up in Suffield with her parents, Roger and Elaine, and brother and sister, Roger and Kathy.  Jackie returned to Suffield 4.5 years ago as the Director of Kent Memorial Library.  She only spent 6 months in the Main Street location and the last 4 years in the temporary location in Flyer Place.  We find with Jackie’s leadership the Kent Memorial Library has become a resource, and is no longer a building just about books.  Jackie notes the library collaborates with all groups in town and has a program for all ages available monthly.  It is anticipated the library will relocate back to their Main Street home in early 2019 and Jackie will need help restocking shelves with the books which have been stored for the past few years.  We welcome Jackie and look forward to assisting with library needs!
Blue Ticket Winners: Blue ticket winner was Dick Kisiel with sides won by Gail and Joe.
Queen of Hearts:  Frank had the winning ticket and did not pull the Queen of Hearts.  Total winning pot now stands at $677+.
Birthdays and Anniversaries: None.
Adjournment: Dick Kisiel closed the meeting with a group singing of “God Bless America”.
Next week’s meeting (Sept 25) – Peter Leclerc - Suffield Parks & Rec Director – Introduction to 2018-19 projects
