Club Meeting May 7, 2019                                                 
 
Opening and Welcome:  Gayle Demko opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and the recitation of the Rotary Four-Way Test.  Scott Seabury provided the invocation and led the club singing of “God Bless America”.

ScholarSip- May 17th  Reminder we are still looking for members to donate toward the raffle prizes available for the event, please bring your donations to the next meeting and give to Natalie. Members are encouraged to sell their tickets! If people can please let Nancy, Natalie or Gayle know about how many tickets they have sold that will help in our planning.  We hope to fill the dining hall on May 17!  At this time tickets will be available at the door.
 
Corn Hole Tournament sponsored by the Interact Club is set for Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Suffield High from 9-2.  Flyers for the event were on the tables and and hopefully we will have several teams participate from Rotary.  Registration info is on the flyers and is done online before May 11th.
 
Scott Seabury shared that the New England Premiere of:   A Promise to Astrid is June 2nd at 6:00 p.m. at the Bethany Assembly of God in Agawam.  Admission is free and the movie version of the book will be available for purchase.
 
Kent Memorial Library is going home.  They are looking for help stocking the shelves.  Jackie Hemond will give us the specifics when they become available.
 
Yard Goats is June 4th ticket info will be coming soon.
 
 
Program: Gayle Demko briefly discussed membership and some area of focus for as our President Elect.
  • 2 primary areas of focus:  1. Club Image 2.  Achievement of purposeful and impactful projects
  • Format of monthly meetings:  4 per month- 1.  Business 2.  Speaker 3.  Student of Month 4.  Social
  • Projects: 
Sunrise Park Playground- working with Peter LeClerc from Park and Rec.-they will be using community volunteers instead of hiring a company.  Shared with him that grant window will be closing shortly for year.
Community Haunted House in collaboration with Interact and Suffield Players

Blue Ticket Winners: Blue ticket winner was Natalie Donais with side winners Greg DeSantis and Nancy Viggiano
Queen of Hearts:  Gordon Stagg had the winning red ticket and did not pull the Queen of Hearts.  Total winning pot now stands at $428.
 
Birthdays and Anniversaries: No birthdays were celebthe coming year rated this evening.
Adjournment: Scott closed the meeting with a group singing of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”.
