Opening and Welcome:  President Dick Kisiel opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and the recitation of the Rotary Four-Way Test.  Luis Lee provided invocation and the club sang “God Bless America”.
 
Members Present: Dale Baker, Joe Blake, Gayle Demko, Greg DeSantis, Frank DiGennaro, Jackie Guzie, Gail Handley, Richard Kisiel, Jon Kozloski, Don Miner, Cat Morrow, Jack Muska, Ken Pascoe, Roger Pratt, Jay Presser, Charles Roumas, Thomas Sullivan and Nancy Viggiano.  (18/33….55%).
 
Guests: Frank and Marion Freidhoff, guests of Gail Handley and Rev. Tom Carr, guest of Luis Lee.
 
Announcements: President Kisiel made several announcements:
- Please pay for the Yard Goat tickets you have reserved ($13 ea).  The signup sheet for this project is absent; please advise Dick Kisiel if you have this document so we might furnish the tickets appropriately.
 
- Paul Harris Dinner:  Roger Pratt is collecting the payments for the scheduled June 26 dinner event.
 
- Scholarship Committee: Nancy Viggiano will call a meeting to identify this year’s recipients.
 
- Golf Committee: Jon Kozloski is asking for a member to collect the wine donations beginning in June.
 
- Wine Tasting:  The committee has met and is proposing a Sep 21 timeframe; the venue to be determined.  Nancy Viggiano will continue to update as this events firms.
 
- Ken Pascoe has recommended the Rotary consider selling a challenge coin collection of four silver coins depicting the history of Suffield for its 350th town celebration.  He will also investigate the Rotary throws which were popular about 15 years ago.
 
- Jay Presser thanks the membership for their generous Rotary Foundation donations.
 
PROGRAM:  Dick Kisiel led the May business meeting. 
 
  • 2018/2019 Officers:  The membership confirmed the roster of officers as presented by Jay Presser.
  • Constitution and By Laws:  Dick, Jay and Greg DeSantis revised the documents to reflect the current activities of the Suffield Rotary.  The documents have been provided to the membership twice for review, highlighting the changes/revisions. The revisions were reviewed and discussed and the membership voted to accept as presented. 
  • The 2018/2019 budget will be provided to the membership and will be reviewed and discussed at the June 22 business meeting.   
 
Blue Ticket Winners: Congratulations to the Blue ticket winner Frank DiGennaro  with a side won by Ken Pascoe.
 
Queen of Hearts:  Cat Morrow had the winning red ticket but did not select the Queen of Hearts. Total winning pot now stands at $346+.
 
Birthdays and Anniversaries: None
 
Adjournment: Richard Kisiel closed the meeting with the song “My Country Tis of Thee”.
 
Next week’s meeting (May 29) – Lynn Mervosh, Phelps-Hatheway House and Garden Site Administrator will talk about the history of the building and its tour opportunities. (This presentation as postponed due to inclement weather on May 15).
