Club Meeting March 12, 2019
Opening and Welcome:  President Dick Kisiel opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and the recitation of the Rotary Four-Way Test; Luis Lee provided the invocation.
Members Present: Joe Blake, Gayle Demko, Jed Dery, Natalie Donais, Richard Kisiel, Jon Kozloski, Luis Lee, Don Miner, Jack Muska, Roger Pratt, Don Rawling, Gordon Stagg,Tom Sullivan, Cat Thomas, Nancy Viggiano and Tami Zawistowski.  (16/31….52%).
Guests: Mary Rusnock, Student of the Month, and her parents David and Margaret; Noran Harnett SOTM sponsor and Zied Hazzan to present info on 5K/10K road rack in memory of Dustin Doyon.
Dick welcomed the Student of the Month and respective representatives to the meeting.  Congratulations to Joe Blake as he is a “CT Principal of the Year” nominee!
Consideration to add several additional membership profiles was discussed at the board meeting.  These profiles will be presented to the membership for discussion and consideration at the April 2 meeting.  
Dick would like to schedule the 70th Anniversary celebration to coincide with a scheduled event later this year.  He will ask the former presidents to form a committee to organize the event.
Wine Tasting – May 17 – 7:30-10:30 PM at Suffield by the River featuring wine, beer, cordials and heavy appetizers - $35 per ticket or $60 for a couple.  Tickets will soon be available and are currently being printed.  Members are asked to supply raffle basket items which Natalie and Gayle will gladly collect. Max attendance of 150 is predicted!
Ziad, a senior at Suffield High, presented the details of the 5K walk/run and 10K run scheduled for May 25, held in honor of Dustin Doyon.  This road race raises funds for Suffield High scholarships.  Ziad notes 6 prizes are needed (two each for $100, $75 and $50) and sponsorships of $150 for a sign and $500 for the banner are available.  Contact Brian Doyon (860-559-3251) for details.
Noreen Harnett introduced our Student of the Month, Mary Rusnock, as a student who exemplifies the values of the Rotary 4-way test and participated in Interact, Track, Soccer Senate and Class Council and is a ‘lovely’ person.   Mary thanked Rotary for the privilege of being named Student of the Month and she plans to follow a path to become an elementary teacher.
Blue Ticket Winners: Blue ticket winner was Izad with a side winner, Noreen..
Queen of Hearts:   Luis had the winning ticket and did not pull the Queen of Hearts.  Total winning pot now stands at $300.
Birthdays and Anniversaries: No birthdays were celebrated this evening.
Adjournment: Dick closed the meeting with a group singing of “My Country Tis of Thee”.
Next week’s meeting–Mar 19       Esther Corcoran will present a program entitled “Alzheimer’s and Related Dementia”.
