The Giving Committee approves of the Suffield Rotary Foundation donation of $20,000 towards the development of the playground at Sunrise Park.  Nancy made the motion to donate the funds which was seconded by Bob.  The motion then passed.  The District has approved an $1800 grant toward the project.
Ken is completing the budget for presentation at our next meeting.  Please email Ken with all project ideas and concepts for consideration to their funding.  The goal is to heighten Rotary’s presence in town.
Some suggestions are:
Suffield on the Green – Booth on the middle green to distribute opioid pill disposal bags, sell the pewter Christmas ornaments we have, take orders for coin sets & distribute Rotary information.  There is a concern that staffing will be a problem because we will need volunteers in both the food booths and then a booth on the middle green.
Student of the Month – Bob Lowell will check into the status of the plaque in the high school so we might update with current awardees.
Library – sponsor a program for the middle school kids and get the PR for such.
Polo Shirts – arrange for shirts to be ordered with Rotary logo (members would pay for their shirts).
Golf Tournament: Jon Kozloski provided an update on the 28th Annual Glenn T. Packard Golf Tournament which will be held on Friday, August 9. Event will need volunteers around 7:15AM, with registration starting at 7:30AM and tournament starting at 8:30/9:00AM.  $20 donations are being collected in lieu of a bottle of wine so Natalie might procure items for raffle baskets.  If you have raffle donations as well, please bring to next meeting.
Reminder: Annual dues are due. Please bring a check or credit card to the next meeting, or you can pay by credit card on the website (direct link:
Jay Presser advised of the fundraising ‘Go Fund Me’ page now available for Scott Flanagan.  There is a fundraiser tomorrow night at the VFW if members are available to attend to help support the medical needs of the Flanagan family.
The program was postponed so more members could partake in the fun!
Blue Ticket Winners: Blue ticket winner was Nancy Viggiano with side winners Bob Lowell and Jackie Hemond.
Queen of Hearts: Gayle had the winning ticket and did not pull the Queen of Hearts. Total winning pot now stands at $650.
Birthdays and Anniversaries:
Adjournment: Scott Seabury closed the meeting with a group signing of “My Country Tis of Thee.”
Next week’s meeting: August 6
Budget presentation with Ken Pascoe.  Jon asks we hold the Board meeting August 13 so the Golf meeting can firm up its plans for the tournament on August 9.
