PROGRAM:  Suffield Rotary contributes to the highly successful Dominican Clean Water Project sponsored by the Somers Rotary Club.  Rick Cheney and David Reed presented a recap of their program and the value it has brought to the community of Puerto Plata.  There are now 200 systems in place and the “clean water equals healthy families” slogan has proven itself as families have better housing and school attendance now that illness affiliated with dirty water has been eliminated to a higher degree.  Rick and David noted the difference between current non-profit water programs in the area. The World Health Organization and UNICEF provide aqueduct water programs which captures the dirty water in a more accessible location where the Rotary program provides a supply of clean water for a family or school.  Suffield Rotarians are proud to be a part of this successful program.
