Club Meeting August 7, 2018
 
Opening and Welcome:  President Dick Kisiel opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and the recitation of the Rotary Four-Way Test.  Scott Seabury provided the invocation and led the club singing of “God Bless America”.
 
Members Present: Dale Baker, Karen Berasi, Joe Blake, Gayle Demko, Jed Dery, Frank DiGennaro, Natalie Donais, Gail Handley, Greg Heineman, Heidi Huhn Partain, Richard Kisiel, Jon Kozloski, Luis Lee, Don Miner, Jack Muska, Ken Pascoe, Roger Pratt, Jay Presser, Charles Roumas, Scott Seabury, and Nancy Viggiano.  (21/34….62%).
 
Guests: Guy Fortunato, former Rotary member.
 
Announcements: President Kisiel made several announcements:
 
- Jon is hoping all will volunteer in support of the golf tournament next Friday; registration begins at 7:30 a.m. the shotgun start is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
 
- The winetasting fundraiser ticket pricing is $30 ea or $50/couple.  Wine, beer, spirits and cordials will be featured and details are currently firming up.  Sep 21 is the scheduled date.
 
-Chicken BBQ planning for SOTG is underway; Ken passed out 10 tickets to each Rotary member reminding all that the presale money is the key to a successful fundraiser.
 
PROGRAM: Karen Berasi outlined opportunities for school service projects for Rotary consideration.  Karen noted that Rotary could take on the role as the clearing house for projects as they pertain to K-12, and might ask the Interact Club to assist with prioritizing/managing the high school project concepts.  The criteria for project consideration and dual commitment would need to be defined.  Shop Right partnered with Suffield schools this past year to reward community minded students with incentives going to both Middle School and High School students for demonstrated acts of kindness.
 
Blue Ticket Winners: Blue ticket winner was Nancy Viggiano; with sides won by Gayle Demko and Luis Lee.
 
Queen of Hearts:  Don Miner has the winning ticket and the card will be pulled for him next week as he had to leave for another meeting. Total winning pot now stands at $523+.
